Back in June, I met Nige Murphy from Caister Junior at a Clicker Regional Training Day in Lowestoft. He is an IT Instructor at Caister Junior and the school had recently purchased a Clicker Site License.
Nige was really impressed with Clicker and the ability to create your own resources. He was keen to create a resource which supported the learning of Roman Numerals in preparation for SATS.
By default, Clicker will of course read letter names when each cell is right-clicked (for example V-I-I). This was an issue Nige easily got around by changing the pronunciation in a Custom Set. Now each cell reads the Roman Numeral as opposed to the individual letters. You can see the resource Nige created on the day below:
This was such a fantastic use of changing pronunciation in a Custom Set - Nige even plans to create some phonic-based resources next! Look out for some new Roman-based resources, inspired by Nige’s idea, on LearningGrids in the coming months!
