We recently spoke with some of our customers who used DocsPlus for their exam access arrangements this summer. Here’s what they loved about using DocsPlus and why they will continue to use it over other solutions:
-
Students find it easy to use and prefer working independently
“Students who wouldn’t feel comfortable with a human reader really benefited from the experience. The simplicity is also helpful for ease of transition.”
“Students have reported that they have used the DocReader because it is discreet, no-one else knows they're accessing support. They have benefitted from the DocReader and this will have a positive impact on their results.”
-
Using DocsPlus reduces costs compared to external invigilators
“We used DocsPlus for the first time this year for over 70 students instead of a human reader. Due to the number of students with access requirements it would be expensive and a logistic nightmare to have enough readers for our students at GCSE time [without DocsPlus].”
“The benefits for our college have been reduced costs for external invigilators and a reduction in the number of smaller venues needed to accommodate students accessing readers. We are pleased with the benefits DocsPlus offers.”
-
It’s easy to set up DocsPlus for staff and students
“The student profiles that you can set up make it so easy to tailor permissions and access arrangements to each student. This is the first year we’ve used DocsPlus and we certainly won’t be changing back in the future.”
“In terms of rooming students for exams, having an approved exam reader really helped with a number of our students - they felt more confident to access the exams and it meant that the school could group some students in a room, rather than look at separate rooms.”
-
DocsPlus’ split screen streamlines the process of using a word processor to complete an exam paper
“Students loved this feature as it saved switching from word processor to exam paper.”
“We used two separate systems for exam access arrangements prior to finding DocsPlus. Since using DocsPlus, we’ve needed less IT help and set up owing to the fact students can use both the reader and keyboard on one laptop, being able to split the screen. The students found it much easier to navigate around DocsPlus, meaning we didn’t need IT’s help when printing, and the invigilators were able to use the system to get the students set up at the beginning of each exam.”

DocsPlus can be used by everyone and promotes great outcomes
“I have just started at a new school and I have brought this software in to support not just our year 11s but also our lower years. This is something I am starting to develop and embed into our everyday use, so that students are familiar with this during assessments.”
“Our SEN students are very anxious about exams - the fact that students can type and not worry about saving their work during an exam alleviates stress for the school as it means students cannot lose work.”
“I have a particular student who really struggles to read and type/ write. They completed an assessment at the start of the year and struggled to grade as they were using a scribe and had to verbally tell them everything… This student has completed their end of year assessment using DocsPlus and got above and beyond what was expected as they could verbalise what they needed and could repeat any listening if they wanted to – this meant they fully understood the questions so were able to give more detailed answers.”
